Meet ExplosiveClownNose!

Hey, I’m ExplosiveClownNose, I’m an artist, game developer, and a contributor for Piddles.net.

I am one of the authors for the Piddles.net blog, here I’ll post some of my opinion pieces about hoops&yoyo, details about important moments in the communities history, and whatever else I can ramble about regarding eCards and Hallmark in general.

a little about my history with hoops&yoyo:

In November of 2024, while mindlessly scrolling on YouTube, I came across a video of a fan made hoops&yoyo e-card. The thumbnail featured the duo in a red void, and I had some vague faint memory of seeing them on greeting cards as a kid, so I clicked on it. It, of course, was 1234Studios’ “Divorce Dance” Animation, which at the time was circulating inside of YouTube’s algorithm.

I don’t know really what it was about it, but it immediately caused me to start looking into hoops&yoyo on the internet, and I feel in deep. Within 3 or so days, I was non-stop watching and researching the duo, watching the TV specials back to back, and observing the community that was blooming in this time. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was one of many people who also got into hoops&yoyo during that time because of the YouTube algorithm pushing several hoops&yoyo videos into the algorithm.

Now, at that point, I still had zero clue about Piddles.net, I saw that there was some reupload channels on YouTube with random cards, and some playlists, but nothing cohesive and beyond videos. So I was very surprised to find the website, which I found linked under DanielSWF’s old hoops&yoyo revival site, of all places. About 4 days later, I found the sample AR card. Days turned to weeks and I found myself using this server as my main place to chat.

Over time I have grown extremely close to the community, and have primarily dealt with the moderation of the associated Discord Server, attempting to archive other more obscure eCard series, moderating the r/hoopsandyoyo subreddit and assisting on community based projects, such as server events and polls. It’s been a year and a half since I found these characters, and they’ve influenced my own personal work so much.  I don’t think that my love for these characters is going to die down anytime soon, and I’m very glad to be apart of the team for Piddles.net. I wouldn’t have grown to appreciate the art of the eCard without this website.

Make sure to check out My Fan Character Guide, what I wrote for AsteroidAndy.com, and Hopie and Sadie – a modern day eCard website I co-direct.

I hope you have a good time exploring the pages that the site has to offer. Thanks for reading!

Hello! I found out hoops&yoyo existed through them getting into my feed when I was a logokid (probably under a decade ago), so I’ve always been aware of their existance. But what REALLY got me into HYY was feridoodles6’s infamous ‘screamer’ videopasta (I was a big fan of videopastas at the time, still am now), from there, I spiralled all the way down into this unusual rabbit hole that they refer to as ‘the hoops&yoyo community’. SORRY ABOUT THE YAPFEST! (insert hoops&yoyo dancing here)
