Today is a very special day. Today, May 22, 2026, officially marks 25 years since hoops&yoyo were first introduced on Hallmark.com. The first ever e-card featuring Hoops, a 4th of July themed e-card, was released on May 22, 2001. Back in 2001, Hoops was known as Pink Kitty, and he was all alone for a short while until Green Bunny was reintroduced in No Heart as Big, an e-card released on October 22 of the same year. For a very long time, the exact date of initial publication was not known, until the very first copyright registration was found.
First of all, I am excited to announce the hoops&yoyo archive will be receiving a (long overdue) redesign. The goal of this redesign is to make the site more user-friendly, make browsing more intuitive, and rebuild it from the ground up to make it easier to update later down the line. The way I initially designed the archive was incredibly tedious, and it was not at all something I ever intended to touch again. This redesign will fix all of that, and I am going to be working on it over the summer.
Here is a (mockup) sneak preview:
Note that this design is not final, and it is subject to change. This is simply a screenshot of a mockup made in Adobe Illustrator.
We are also finally releasing the long-awaited hoops&yoyo web content archive. Thanks to “piddles,” a very generous member of the piddles.net Discord server, we are able to share hundreds of new files, most importantly a major cache of .swfs that were deleted from Hallmark.com long ago. This archive includes various e-cards, many of which were previously completely lost to time and had no known footage online. Some were simply no longer accessible in Flash format.
Please note that these files were saved from 2008 to 2018. As such, content that was deleted prior to 2008 is not present here. It should also be noted that the e-cards seem to have been captured some time after 2011. As a result, some e-cards are missing, but we do have every hoops&yoyo e-card that was available on Hallmark.com in 2013, including all of the .webm versions.
I will let it be known that this folder does not contain ALL of the hoops&yoyo content ever published on Hallmark.com. It only contains said user’s personal snapshots of this content. As a result, some files may not be available in this folder, but they will be (or currently are) available for viewing on archive.piddles.net.
This folder contains nearly 3,000 unique* files (2,917 to be exact). It is approximately 1.3 GB.
* = some files may be duplicates
I have included some files from Wayback Machine in the “calendars” folder so as to keep this collection as complete as it can possibly be.
